We are currently hiring highly skilled Mathematics Teachers to provide live academic support to K-12 students based in the United States.
This is a fully online teaching opportunity supporting students enrolled in mainstream schools, homeschool programmes, AP courses, and supplemental mathematics programmes.
About the Role
This is not a traditional classroom teaching role. Teachers provide short-form, live academic assistance to students who join an online support platform when they get stuck on a maths problem, concept, method, or theory. Sessions are typically around 10 minutes long and focus on direct, snapshot-style support.
Students may require assistance with:
- Working through equations or problem-solving methods
- Understanding mathematical theories or concepts
- Clarifying homework or practice activities
- AP-level and advanced mathematics support
If a student requires extensive intervention or ongoing academic support, they are referred back to their primary/full-time teacher.
Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A completed tertiary qualification in:
- Mathematics, OR
- B.Ed FET with Mathematics as a core module/major
- Related Degree
- Exceptionally strong mathematics knowledge across multiple areas and levels
- The ability to think quickly and explain concepts clearly in real time
- Strong verbal communication skills
Technical Requirements
Tutors must have:
- Fibre internet connection (minimum 25 Mbps upload/download)
- LAN-connected setup
- i5 quad-core PC/laptop capable of running teaching software
- UPS/back-up power solution
- Noise-cancelling headset
- Quiet, professional working environment
Working Hours
- South African time 15:00 β 00:00 SAST
- Shift can be halved, e.g., 15:00-19:00 and 19:00-00:00
Compensation
- Approximate monthly earning potential: R22 000
