Emeris – City, Cape Town has a vacancy for a Part-Time Lecturer in the following module:

Semester 2

  • Game Design 3B

Key Performance Areas:

Prepare for lectures based on provided content. Supplement content with own expertise. Deliver assigned modules to the stated outcomes and contracted hours. Mark student assessments and provide constructive feedback. Support student academic success by implementing workshops where needed.  Perform academic admin, such as capturing assessment marks and reporting on student success. Provide content feedback. Engage with professional development opportunities and attend initial training sessions.


Job Purpose:

Lecture based on provided content, ensure students are guided and supported in their learning. Mark student submissions and engage with campus teaching and learning

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Ideal:
    • Honours Degree / Masters in a design field, such as BCIS Multimedia, Bachelor of Film Arts (Game Design) or Digital Arts with relevant work experience in the Game Design industry.

 

  • Alternatively:
    • An Honours degree in Digital Design/Media/ Graphic Design / Multimedia
    • An Honours degree in similarly related fields with creative development or a similarly related field to the third year level.
    • An Honours degree in similarly related fields with programming or a similarly related field to the 2nd year level .

Minimum Work Experience Requirements:

  • ​​At least 3 years industry experience, with a collaborative, cross-platform, multi-disciplinary approach to research, conceptualising and crafting for various kinds and genres of digital games on both computer and mobile platforms. An aptitude for Design Thinking and Creative Strategy in relation to problem solving, preparing for action, critical engagement and decision making is a must. The candidate is required to have a layered portfolio detailing her/his ability to engage with the entire game design process. ​
