Duties & Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Senior Lecturer: Provide teaching and learning services as well as a research function.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Teaching and Learning
  • Teaching assigned classes according to the NWU teaching and learning strategies.
Research
  • Research outputs as to be discussed with PGL and DD.
Community engagement
  • Actively contribute to community engagement projects as part of the school of Accounting Sciences (SAS).

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • An honours degree in Chartered Accountancy or / a postgraduate diploma in Chartered Accountancy (CTA)
  • A master's degree in Chartered Accountancy (NQF Level 9).
  • A minimum of one (1) year teaching experience in a tertiary environment.
  • Registration with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) as a CA(SA).
ADDED ADVANTAGE:
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the field as an Accountant.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • A working knowledge of essential technical competencies required in the field of Auditing.
  • Knowledge of working with students, handling large classes, setting of assessments.
  • Knowledge of the process of research and an eagerness to conduct research.
  • Interest in community service.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office package (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
  • Knowledge of Accounting-related software packages.
  • Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the multilingual environment of the NWU.

REMUNERATION:
 
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
