Purpose

The Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences invites applications for a Lecturer position under the New Generation of Academic Scholars Programme (NGAP), which is a nationally funded programme aimed at developing the next generation of academics through a structured and supported career-development pathway.

The successful candidate will be appointed in the Department of Accounting and Economics Sciences as a lecturer in Accounting, while receiving reduced teaching loads and structured mentorship to support the completion of a doctoral qualification, development of teaching competence, and establishment of a research profile in accounting. The incumbent will contribute to undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching, curriculum development, and academic activities within the department, in line with the objectives of the NGAP programme as well as the institution.

Minimum Requirements

  • A master’s degree in accounting or commerce or any equivalent master’s degree (specializing in Accounting, Management Accounting, Auditing or Taxation).
  • Prospective candidates should have achieved an average of 70% or above at master's level.
  • Must be forty (40) years or younger.
  • At least two years teaching experience in a higher education environment
  • Commit to the completion of Doctoral studies, within a prescribed period.

Recommended requirements

  • Registration for a Doctoral degree
  • Membership of professional associations/bodies
  • Completed moderator and assessor training programmes
  • Knowledge of technology-enhanced learning
