Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to lead our Middle School Head Boys Basketball program at RW Combs Elementary. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coaching and developing young athletes, fostering a positive and inclusive team environment, and promoting sportsmanship and teamwork. This full-time position requires strong leadership skills, effective communication, and the ability to motivate and inspire middle school students.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive coaching plan that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Plan and conduct daily practices, ensuring that all athletes receive appropriate instruction and feedback.
- Organize and manage the team's schedule, including practices, games, and tournaments.
- Collaborate with school administration and other coaches to promote the basketball program and enhance student engagement.
- Monitor and evaluate athlete performance, providing constructive feedback to support individual and team growth.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages participation and respect among all team members.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school staff regarding team expectations, schedules, and performance.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Assist in the recruitment and retention of student-athletes, promoting the benefits of participation in the basketball program.
- Attend coaching clinics and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in coaching and athlete development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in education, sports management, physical education, or a related field preferred.
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school level or higher.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate young athletes.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Must pass a background check and meet all school district employment requirements.
