Introduction

The University of Zululand (UNIZULU), affectionately known as Ongoye, is a Comprehensive University located on the North Coast of the Kwazulu-Natal Province. It boasts two campuses located in KwaDlangezwa and Richards Bay. It has four faculties, namely Arts, Education, Science and Agriculture, and Commerce, Administration and Law.

Duties & Responsibilities

Applications are invited from suitable qualified interested parties to fill the position indicated above. The candidates will be expected to teach at undergraduate and post graduate levels of study in the Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering: Department of Mathematical Sciences. The candidate will supervise post graduate research, engage in community engagement, and will also assist administrative duties. The Department of Mathematical Sciences in the Faculty of Science, Agriculture, and Engineering will especially welcome applicants with experience, expertise, and suitable qualifications in the field of Mathematics/Applied Mathematics. The successful candidate will be required to teach any other module should the need arise.

Desired Experience & Qualification

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Masters in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics.
  • Successful track record of postgraduate supervisions at Honours level.
  • Record of contribution to departmental administration and/or leadership.
  • Teaching and developing undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics.
  • Community engagement activity.
  • Sound interpersonal skills, including a commitment to collegiality and equal opportunity.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience of teaching at a Tertiary Institution with demonstrated potential in communicating knowledge and facilitating teaching and learning in a lecture, online, seminar, tutorial and/or practical’s, coupled with knowledge of online assessment practices.
  • Teaching Mathematics/Applied Mathematics in undergraduate and post graduate students.
  • Experience in post- graduate supervision.
  • A proven track record of SAPSE-accredited publications in recognised local and international journals.
