Job Summary

The Upper Primary Class Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to pupils in the upper primary section (Primary 4–6). The teacher will create an engaging learning environment, assess pupils' progress, maintain effective classroom management, and support pupils' academic and character development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver lessons in accordance with the approved curriculum and scheme of work.
  • Teach assigned subjects effectively using appropriate teaching methods and instructional materials.
  • Prepare lesson notes, weekly plans, and other required teaching records.
  • Assess pupils through classwork, assignments, tests, projects, and examinations.
  • Mark and provide feedback on pupils' work promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupils' attendance, academic performance, and behaviour.
  • Prepare pupils adequately for internal assessments and external examinations where applicable.
  • Establish and maintain effective classroom management and discipline.
  • Communicate professionally with parents regarding pupils' progress and welfare when necessary.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training programmes, school events, and other assigned activities.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by the Head Teacher or School Management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an NCE in Primary Education or a related field.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Education (B.Ed., B.A.Ed., or B.Sc.Ed.) will be an added advantage.
  • Registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is desirable.
  • At least 1–2 years of teaching experience in a primary school setting is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of the Nigerian primary school curriculum.
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic proficiency in the use of ICT tools for teaching and record-keeping.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
