Duties & Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To be responsible for teaching & learning, research and community engagement in the School of Professional Studies for the subject group, Curriculum Studies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaching Undergraduate Modules.
  • Assessment Design, Implementation and Moderation.
  • Study Guide and Material Development.
  • LMS Module Development and Maintenance.
  • Teaching and Supervision: Postgraduate.
  • Support of Research Entity.
  • Initiating and Planning of Strategic Research Initiatives.
  • Research Publications.
  • Community Service and Professional Service.
  • Participation in Academic Governance Structures and Committees.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Senior Lecturer

  • A PhD (NQF 10) in Curriculum Studies or related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in teaching in the relevant field in a higher education environment.
  • Be an author/co-author of at least 2 research articles in accredited journals.
  • Completed supervision of at least 1 master’s student in the relevant field.

Associate Professor

  • A PhD (NQF 10) in Curriculum Studies or related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in teaching in the relevant field in a higher education environment.
  • Good publication record, including author/co-authored at least 5 publications in accredited journals since 2021.
  • Completed supervision of at least 1 master’s student and promotor or co-promotor of a PhD student commenced and in process in the relevant field.

ADDED ADVANTAGES & PREFERENCES:

  • Have proven teaching experience in curriculum studies.
  • Have experience in team teaching
  • Involvement in funded research projects.
  • Research skills, interpersonal skills/communication and computer literacy.

KEY FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrate recent experience of working and teaching in a higher education context.
  • Demonstrate recent experience in publishing accredited research.
  • Demonstrate recent experience in supervising post-graduate students to completion.
  • Demonstrate recent experience of involvement in Community Engagement.

KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team.
 

REMUNERATION:

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
