SCHOOL PRINCIPAL (PRIMARY & SECONDARY)

Our client school in Owerri is seeking an experienced and dynamic School Principal to provide strategic leadership and oversee the effective running of both its Primary and Secondary school sections.

The Principal will report directly to the School Owner and will be responsible for driving academic excellence, leading staff, ensuring student welfare, strengthening parent engagement, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the school.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strong academic and administrative leadership across the Primary and Secondary sections.
• Oversee teaching, learning, curriculum implementation and student academic performance.
• Lead, supervise, appraise and develop teaching and support staff.
• Maintain high standards of discipline, safeguarding, student welfare and professional conduct.
• Monitor lesson planning, assessment, examinations and student progress.
• Build positive relationships with parents and other key stakeholders.
• Oversee the effective use of school resources, facilities and daily operations.
• Work with the leadership team to implement school policies, development plans and improvement initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve the school's academic standards, reputation, enrolment and overall performance.
• Lead by example and foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, professionalism and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Education or a relevant field; a Master's degree or relevant professional qualification is an advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in school leadership or senior management, preferably in a Primary and Secondary school environment.
• Strong knowledge of the Nigerian curriculum; experience with the Cambridge/British curriculum is an advantage.
• Proven experience managing and developing teaching staff.
• Strong understanding of academic assessment, school administration and student welfare.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency in using ICT for teaching, administration and school management.
• A proactive, approachable and results-oriented leadership style.
• Ability to work effectively with the School Owner, staff, students and parents.
