Job Summary

The Science Teacher will be responsible for teaching Physics at the secondary school level, depending on area of specialization. The teacher will deliver engaging lessons, conduct practical activities where applicable, assess students' learning, and support their preparation for internal and external examinations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver effective lessons in the assigned science subject(s) in line with the approved curriculum.
  • Prepare lesson notes, schemes of work, and instructional materials as required.
  • Organise and supervise laboratory practical sessions while ensuring adherence to safety procedures.
  • Assess students through assignments, classwork, tests, practicals, and examinations.
  • Mark scripts promptly and maintain accurate records of students' academic performance.
  • Prepare students for external examinations such as WAEC, NECO, and other relevant assessments.
  • Identify and provide support to students requiring additional academic assistance.
  • Maintain effective classroom management and promote positive student behaviour.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, staff meetings, school events, and professional development activities.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by the school management.

Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Science Education, or a related field.
- Candidates with degrees in pure sciences must possess a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or demonstrate a willingness to obtain one.
- Registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) will be an added advantage.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience in a secondary school setting is preferred.
- Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Physics, or Chemistry, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for students.
- Practical laboratory experience and knowledge of laboratory safety procedures.
- Good communication, classroom management, and organisational skills.
- Basic proficiency in the use of ICT tools for teaching and record-keeping.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
