Introduction

The Continental Schhol of Cairo, Egypt,  is seeking an enthusiastic, qualified and experienced Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Teacher to join our international school in Cairo for the academic year 2026/2027.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate early-years educator who enjoys creating a warm, stimulating and well-structured learning environment where young children can develop socially, emotionally and academically.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality, engaging and developmentally appropriate learning experiences in line with the British Curriculum Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Creating a safe, nurturing, stimulating and well-organised learning environment that supports children's social, emotional, physical and academic development.
  • Using a balance of child-initiated and adult-led learning experiences to promote curiosity, independence, creativity and a lifelong love of learning.
  • Planning purposeful play-based activities that respond to children's individual interests, needs and stages of development.
  • Observing, assessing and monitoring children's progress and using this information to plan appropriate next steps in learning.
  • Maintaining accurate and meaningful records, observations and documentation in accordance with school policies and EYFS requirements.
  • Identifying and supporting individual learning needs and adapting teaching and learning approaches to ensure that all children can access and participate fully in the curriculum.
  • Supporting children's personal, social and emotional development and helping them develop confidence, independence, positive relationships and appropriate communication skills.
  • Establishing clear routines and expectations and maintaining a positive, calm and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, support staff and colleagues to ensure consistency and high-quality provision across the Early Years setting.
  • Communicating regularly and professionally with parents and carers regarding children's progress, development and wellbeing, and supporting positive home-school partnerships.
  • Contributing to the wider life and development of the Early Years department and participating actively in school events, meetings and professional development.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding, health and safety and child wellbeing in accordance with school policies and procedures.
  • Working in accordance with the school's professional expectations, policies and values and contributing positively to the school's inclusive and collaborative culture.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Ideal Candidate

We are particularly interested in applicants with:

·         A recognised teaching qualification, such as a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent.

·         A qualification specialising in Early Childhood Education / Foundation Phase / Early Years.

·         EYFS experience and a sound understanding of the EYFS framework and principles.

·         Experience teaching children aged approximately 3–6 years.

·         A minimum of 2 years' classroom teaching experience preferred.

·         Strong knowledge of child development, play-based learning and developmentally appropriate practice.

·         Experience with observation, assessment, documentation and individual learning plans.

·         Excellent classroom-management and communication skills.

·         A warm, nurturing and professional approach to working with young children.

·         The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and communicate effectively with parents.

·         Experience with British or international curricula highly advantageous.
